Intramuscular Stimulation

Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is an effective method in the treatment of chronic pain associated with neuropathies and shortened muscles. IMS is similar to traditional acupuncture in that a very fine needle is inserted into certain points in a muscle. Neuropathic pain occurs when a nerve becomes supersensitive to stimuli that normally would be interpreted as harmless. IMS focuses on releasing the shortened muscle which presses on and irritates the nerve. Physiotherapists use IMS in conjunction
